30 years of commercial roofing
Premier Roofing’s history is demonstrated by its formal business name; AAA Premier Roofing (Holdings) Pty Ltd. The AAA, originally included to raise its placement in the Yellow Pages is now the moniker for Premier Roofing (“just ring Triple A”). AAA was started by Chris Fowler in 1994 when his focus turned from domestic roofing to Commercial Roofing and continued to grow steadily from that date forward.
In 2019, Chris retired from full-time work, selling the business to his long time employees Andrew Tonkin and Scott Johnson who had been Construction Manager and Business Manager respectively. It was a tumultuous start to the new ownership with COVID-19 hitting the industry just after the buyout. Despite the difficulties, Premier Roofing thrived into the business it is today.
Director – Andrew Tonkin
Andrew started his apprenticeship under his dad, learning general plumbing and running a maintenance plumbing business in his hometown of Korumburra before he started in Commercial and Industrial roofing.
After spending some time in WA, Andrew worked at a number of smaller roofing companies before settling at Premier Roofing, initially as a roofer, before becoming a leading hand, a construction manager and finally purchasing the business in 2019.
Andrew spends most of his time onsite, guiding the team of leading hands to work safely and efficiently with the builders onsite team.
Director – Scott Johnson
Scott initially developed his skills supporting and developing roof estimating software before making the jump into the domestic roofing world.
After many years developing some of Victoria’s largest domestic roofing companies, Scott joined Premier Roofing as the head of estimating, moving on to take on the role as Company Manager and eventually purchasing the business with Andrew in 2019.
Scott is based in the office, working with the Project Management, Finance, Estimating and Sales teams and securing all new contracts.
